DESCRIPTION:
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (APA) is seeking an exceptional graphic designer to join the organization's brand and creative team. The graphic designer will help conceive and implement designs for an array of print and digital projects including reports, magazines, infographics, motion graphics, video editing, digital marketing and social media graphics. This position requires a strategic thinker with a sophisticated aesthetic who is comfortable working independently and in a virtual-first environment. Our ideal candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver who can generate ideas, think editorially and narratively, use design to transform sometimes long, often complicated ideas into high-impact, visually driven and brand-appropriate materials. The interest and ability to learn new skills and concepts and grow professionally is a must for our team culture.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS in design, fine arts or similar field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Thorough knowledge of digital and print design ideally with 3-5 years of work experience in a professional setting. In-house creative experience is strongly preferred.
Proven conceptual-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional typographic and layout skills.
Experience with report and magazine layouts (i.e., long, complex documents) and/or producing motion graphics for video strongly preferred.
Must be able to follow established brand guidelines but also be able to extend the brand to its fullest possible expression.
Working familiarity with effective design strategies for websites, social media platforms, and digital marketing.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-manage multiple projects, work efficiently, and consistently meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently but also function effectively as part of a team environment.
Very strong eye for detail; concern for quality throughout design and production process.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must have in-depth understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, with extensive experience using InDesign. After Effects experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite, including PowerPoint; and Mac OS.
Basic proficiency in HTML and CSS.
Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Asana are a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conceive and implement designs for an array of print and digital projects including publications, campaign graphics, advertisements, data visualizations and infographics, event materials, and presentations.
Manage assigned projects from start to finish.
Create compelling designs for APA's email marketing and social media campaigns.
Design and select imagery for APA's websites and contribute to user experience and visual updates to the sites.
Work closely and manage relationships with other APA staff members, stakeholders, and outside vendors.
Contribute ideas, participate in meetings, and collaborate with others.
Other Duties as Assigned
Serve as an ambassador of the Communications team and the Brand and Creative function internally and an ambassador of APA externally.
Meaningfully contribute to the overall effectiveness and impact of the Brand and Creative function.
