An apparel designer may even be expected to evaluate prototypes and preproduction and production samples in order to ensure conformity to specifications and resolve quality issues. Therefore, an apparel designer should have the ability to organize and maintain merchandising and production department systems.
An apparel designer is required to have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. A college degree in business, clothing or textiles or equivalent work experience is a huge plus for this position. An apparel designer should also be proficient at MS Word and Excel.
