Apparel Designer Jobs description
The average salary of an apparel designer is $34,000; however, this would vary greatly with respect to company, location, industry, experience, and benefits.The primary responsibility of an apparel designer is to design clothes featuring fabrics, color, and style indicated by market analysis. Therefore, a strong knowledge of fabrics and the latest and near-future trends is a must and so are good research skills.
An apparel designer may even be expected to evaluate prototypes and preproduction and production samples in order to ensure conformity to specifications and resolve quality issues. Therefore, an apparel designer should have the ability to organize and maintain merchandising and production department systems.
An apparel designer is required to have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. A college degree in business, clothing or textiles or equivalent work experience is a huge plus for this position. An apparel designer should also be proficient at MS Word and Excel.
