Job Summary

A new College of Engineering service unit for online and professional engineering education is seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly creative graphic designer to design and develop visually compelling communications for print and multimedia projects and campaigns. This position will be part of a creative in-house marketing and communications team that is developing a new brand identity and campaigns for this new service unit. The position will be responsible for designing print, web, and html email communications, in addition to assisting with new website development. This position reports to the Business Development and Customer Service Manager.

Responsibilities*

Under general supervision, develop visual communications and marketing materials designed to establish the branding, understanding, visibility, and marketing of a new College of Engineering service unit for online and professional engineering education. Tthe ideal candidate will be comfortable in both print and digital formats and demonstrate the following skills:

Design, develop and construct visually appealing web pages, banners, ads, email campaigns and marketing collateral with a careful focus on corporate branding

Format content and design page layouts, custom graphics and other ad-hoc projects

Visually represent content in infographics, digital images, and animations

Work with the marketing team to ensure goals and needs are met

Create innovative templates that align with brand standards and style guides

Web page SEO optimization including headlines, meta tags, page titles, alt tags, and description

Required Qualifications*

Five years minimum graphic design experience

Working knowledge of concepts and principles of communications and marketing

Bachelors in associated field (Art and Design, Multimedia Development, Computer Science, etc.)

Experience with illustration and layout software

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)

Ability to create HTML from custom Photoshop files

Experience with SEO guidelines and understanding of SEO best-practices, integration and development methods

Experience working with brand guidelines with an eye for design

Familiarity with type styles, type design, and type specification

General knowledge of prepress, design and printing including familiarity with layout, trim, bleed, and trapping

Photo retouching and image manipulation

Work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects

Resourceful, creative thinker with exceptional attention to detail

Portfolio of previous print and digital design projects required

Basic front-end design skills (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)

Additional Information

NOTE: This is a full-time temporary position of up to 12 months duration with the possibility of becoming a regular staff position.
