Reporting directly to the Regional Executive Director for Education and Professional Practice, the Regional Director, Educational Content Design and Delivery, is responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a wide variety of instructional programs and tools impacting orientation, continuing education, competency, and professional practice for disciplines within ministries across the region, including inter-professional practice.

This individual will lead the regional content development team, and serve as an expert resource to Southern California educators and other regional and system partners. Activities will focus on advancing staff and patient outcomes through educational activities.

In this position you will:

Serve as the clinical expert and coach for healthcare educational program content design and delivery.

Effectively manage educational design, development and delivery team.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures and methodologies with the content design, development and delivery team.

Mentor and coach team members to drive for operational and delivery excellence.

Evaluate educational outcomes for program revision.

Drive the use of new, innovative, efficient development and delivery methodologies. 

Collaborate with the Ministry Education Leaders on needs and resource availability.

Participate in faculty development for online teaching.

Collaborate with nursing education leaders/specialists to tailor programs based on the audience, educational need, skill level and learning style.

 ','!*!Required qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Nursing required.

Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, Instructional Design or closely related field is required or actively in process.

Three years of experience is required in Clinical nursing, and Leadership within healthcare organizations, and Development of educational content, and Electronic content development.

Membership in a nationally recognized nursing or educational organization required.

Current CA RN license required.

Certification in nationally recognized nursing leadership or education organization is required or must be obtained within 1 yr.

Driver’s License, and the ability to drive between ministries using own private transport required.

Strong working knowledge of educational principles for adult learners.

Demonstrated experience creating sound educational content in a variety of non-electronic, and on-line delivery methods that incorporate various media (e.g., audio, video, interactive learning objects, animations)

Previously demonstrated experience collaborating with SMEs in a variety of professions and specialties.

Advanced communication skills both oral and written.

Demonstrated ability to lead successfully in a highly matrixed organization.

Strong project management skills.

Intermediate data analysis and evaluation skills.

Expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, graphic editing and e-learning authoring tools.

Knowledge of ADA compliance standards and WCAG 2.0

If Master’s degree does not have an educational focus, additional educational academic experience is strongly preferred.

Providence St. Joseph Health, Southern California region, now includes eleven acute care facilities, home care, hospice, and other healthcare organizations.  These institutions are located in the greater Los Angles area, Orange County, and Apple Valley, California, and include approximately 22,000 employees.  The Regional Education team is growing to provide learning activities for these employees that includes orientation, continuing education, professional development, and competency management.  

The Regional Education department is led by the Regional Director for Education and Professional Practice, with the collaboration of an Educational Coordinator/Analyst, and a Regional Simulation team that supports an extensive simulation program for the new graduate and transition RNs programs, and selective inter-professional in situ teams focusing on the quality and safety of patient care.

In additional, there are four virtual teams:  the Directors/Managers of Education in each of the facilities, the Transition in Practice (TIP) team supporting new graduate and transition RN programs, the Magnet team supporting 6 designated Magnet organizations and additional organizations on the Magnet journey, and the Nursing Research team.

The department is expanding to include support for inter-professional educational content design and delivery for the 22,000 employees across the Southern California region of Providence St. Joseph Health.
