Summary of Job Duties
The School of Art Assistant Director of Operations will act as administrative support and advisor for faculty committees, providing oversight of current facilities, monitoring new building construction and renovations, and overseeing multiple facets of office and program function. This position will serve as an administrative liaison for School of Art faculty committees including but not limited to Advisory and Personnel, Facilities, Recruitment, Environmental Health and Safety, Curriculum, Design, Gallery Exhibition and Visiting Artists, Grants and Awards, Foundations, BA,
, and
, and faculty and staff search committees. The Assistant Director of Operations will serve as coordinator for all new building and remodel projects in the School of Art. This position will provide oversight of current facilities including, but not limited to, building operations, faculty and staff office, studio assignments, hygiene/safety, fire safety, elevators, operation and maintenance contracts, and custodial contracts. This position will oversee the travel plans, schedules, and paperwork for visiting artists, designers, scholars, and other guests of the School of Art (including search candidates), in coordination with the gallery director and program heads. The Assistant Director will oversee multiple administrative facets of the
program, in coordination with
committee and
Director, and will lead the coordination, advisement, and problem-solving for students regarding scholarships and awards (including summer awards), in coordination with Director of Fiscal Operations and Chair of the Awards Committee. The School of Art Assistant Director of Operations will also oversee all office staff below the rank of Director and offer oversight and advisement on office protocols.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
At least four years of experience working in higher education or general education administration
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the qualifications listed above.
Experience in construction and remodeling of non-residential space
Experience in office administration and management
Experience in student advising
