Architectural Designer Jobs description
Architectural designers are valued for their inventive design skills. After all, it is these skills that make buildings stand apart from each other in the concrete jungles of the modern world. Along with these, the designers need good drafting, layout, and graphical skills.However, in today's information age, only creativity and good drafting ability will not take architectural designers places; they also need to be comfortable using computers. Most firms require their architectural designers to be excellent at using AutoCAD and MS Office. Knowledge of Autodesk 3Ds Studio Max 8 would also be an advantage.
As far educational requisites go, a diploma in architectural/structural engineering drafting is the minimum requirement for architectural designers. As the job involves poring over and fine-tuning the same design for days, maybe months, architectural designers need to be extremely self-motivated. Moreover, good language skills would be a plus as client interactions require good communication skills.
The average salary for architectural designer jobs is $57,000. However, this may vary greatly because of firm, location, industry, experience, and benefits.
